Little Spies was a Disney film where I portrayed Big Al, the leader of The Water Street Gang. It was such a joy to play the bad guy opposite actor James Tolkan (known from the hit films Back to the Future and Top Gun), and Academy Award winner Mickey Rooney, who appeared in over 300 films in his nine-decade career. I have fond memories of listening to Mickey’s many stories of all the famous actors and friends he worked alongside in his career such as Judy Garland, Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, John Wayne, Laurence Olivier, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and so many others. I remember telling my dad one day during filming that I was worried Mickey wasn’t going to live very much longer because I thought he looked so old and tired. Mickey was 66 years old when we shot Little Spies. He ended up living close to thirty more years to the golden age of 93. Boy, was I mistaken!
